STAMFORD LAND CORPORATION LTD
Operations Review
We expanded the hotel’s government as well
as corporate market segments with several
major clients. Occupancy rate rose by 2.4%
to 90.6%. Revpar improved by 4% over the
last FY. Tighter cost controls over payroll
also improved the hotel’s proftability. In
addition, we initiated cost saving measures
such as outsourcing of the housekeeping
department.
Firstly, Stamford Plaza Sydney Airport was
recognised as the top Australian airport hotel,
receiving the gold medal in the prestigious
Skytrax World Airport Award 2011 for the
Australia/Pacifc category. This award is
based on a survey of 860,000 international
travellers.
Always seeking to make improvements, we
are currently in the process of refurbishing
all 314 accommodation-rooms that will be
completed by mid-August. The conference
rooms will have new carpets and the main
ballroom will receive a soft upgrade to further
enhance its ambience.
To further enhance our service, Stamford
Plaza Sydney Airport will be the frst hotel
in Sydney to implement a mobile application
known as i-Guest in May 2012. Upon
reservation confrmation, or at check-in, our
guests can access this unique portal directly
from their mobile phone to conveniently order
hotel services, view hotel information and
access special offers any time wherever they
may be. This service is available on various
smart handheld devices such as iPhone,
iPod touch, Androids and Blackberry.
We are positive about Stamford Plaza Sydney
Airport’s outlook for FY 2012/13 as the city
continues to experience increased demand.
More road shows are planned in 2012/13 in
the Sydney CBD such as Red Bull, incentive
groups and a few other big conventions that
will allow city hotels to narrow their room
inventory and increase room rates. With the
airport just 15 minutes away from the CBD,
we expect to beneft from the spill over of the
high demand. A few airlines are also looking
at our hotel for the training of their crew and
pilots that would substantially increase our
room nights sold.
Sir Stamford at Circular Quay
did well
with GOP rising by 18.8%. This healthy
performance was underpinned by increased
demand and strong room rate management
- both factors that led to a rise in revpar of
6.1%. Determined efforts to control costs
also contributed to higher proftability.
